My Line Up Projections as of July 6th 2007

Tanguay-Lombardi-Iginla
Huselius-Langkow-Nolan
Primeau-Conroy-Moss
Taratukhin-Yelle-Nilson

Phaneuf-Sarich
Regehr-Aucoin
Eriksson-Giordano*

* - Swap with Hale, throughout the season.

This is with the scenario that if Warrener is indeed on the shelf for the whole season, or at least long term.

If not I imagine a dog fight for the #6 spot between, Eriksson, Giordano, and Hale I expect one of these three to be in the AHL if this is the case. I believe Eriksson and Hale would take the spot over Giordano, now of course there will be inevitable injuries on D and Giordano should see his fair ammount of games in Calgary, but I see him starting on the farm if Warrener is healthy enough to play.

Eriksson will be up with the big team the whole year I believe, with split time in the press box. He's not going to QC, Hale is a solid player, and doesn't make a ton of money, so I don't see him in QC, Gio does have a good share of farm experience so I believe he'll be the only to first see time on the farm. Unless he has an OUTSTANDING pre-season.

Adios!

here's my take: if you go purely based on listed positions, calgary's LWs (1-4) will be:
1.tanguay
2.huselius
3.moss
4.nilson
with our shortage of RWs and excess of Cs, you can pretty much extrapolate from there. first two lines are easy:
tanguay/lombardi/iginla
huselius/langkow/nolan

then it gets interesting. i like the idea of primeau/yelle/nilson as a 4th/grind line cause it's tough. but then i also like the idea of primeau/langkow/nolan cause it's tough and fast, but can SCORE.
let's go with option A.

that leaves moss (L) & conroy (C)to play on the 3rd line. i'd promote dustin boyd over taratukhin, only because i'm not convinced the russian can skate. (in the same breath, i also love the idea of a moss/lombardi/boyd line in the vein of the ducks' PPG line).

sorry for rambling.

Interesting... Moss is a RW though or at least he spent the most of his time as a RW last year.

Sutter likes multi-position players so he could be in any of the 3 spots to see if he fits.

I like Taratukhin coming up because he can play with men, Boyd still needs to develop his strength. Taratukhin would've been up last season if it weren't for family Visa issues he was having.

Anyhoo, thanks for the comment!

The Giordano/Hale/Eriksson argument may be settled by the nature of their contracts - that is, whoever has a 2 way deal will see time on the farm. I don't think Sutter would want someone like Gio to have to clear waivers in order to play in QC, for instance.

I think your forward lines are pretty close and I agree that Taratukhin will likely be chosen over Boyd to make the club next year. He's older, has more experience, and by all accounts was the best player on the Knights by the end of the season last year.
