According to the Calgary Sun and some blunt comments from Flames GM Darryl Sutter it appears that Andrei Taratukhin is gone to Russia... Why? Who knows... The kid would've made the team in my opinion and had him penciled in more than a month ago.It's obvious he doesn't dream of a NHL career after all... It's understandable from a personal standpoint, his family... but even so. It's not a move I respect as a fan of this team...
It really makes me wonder what the point of drafting Russian players is at all now... unless they are top flight prospects ala Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, and Ilya Kovalchuk.

this upsets me more than gio. mostly because i didn't think gio would have a spot on the big team but i really figured tukhs would have looked nice on the 2nd or 3rd line (depending on how he transitionned)... now we have a gaping hole that i think only DVDG can fill.

i can't believe you're not gonna go. seriously ? vandergulik is pretty solid. my boy tomi mäki (anyone who's read my blog longer than a month would know i fucking love this guy) will be there, skating and grinding his heart out. ramholt's good. boyd's decent. leland's got some skills, but keetley's faster. and somebody HAS to figure out if it'll be krahn or mcelhinney backing up kipper.
